We are proud to officially announce that Central Coast Motor Group is now the Bronze Corporate Supporter of White Ribbon Australia for 2018.
Towards the end of 2017 we came across an article in the Daily Telegraph concerning the soaring rates of crime on the Central Coast. Whilst most categories of crime across NSW have remained stable or fallen over the last two years, the Central Coast saw the largest increase in the prevalence of crimes such as car theft, breaking and entering and domestic violence.
Since the end of last year, we have also had the chance to speak with people in the local community about these outrageous statistics. Among the local police officers and officials from the Wyong Court House, each person expressed a particular sadness regarding the prevalence of domestic violence and severity of the cases on the coast.
At Central Coast Motor Group we are extremely fortunate to have a large reach of customers expanding from the north and south of the Central Coast, which accounts for approximately 25% of the automotive businesses. The idea was put forward to White Ribbon Australia that Central Coast Motor Group utilise our place in the community in support of White Ribbon.
To show our support, Central Coast Motor Group will be making a donation for every vehicle sold which will account for over $10,000. This donation will be used by White Ribbon to build primary prevention strategies in schools and workplaces, as well contributing to awareness events. White Ribbon international has a goal of ending violence against women. In our dealership and more widely in the car industry women are a minority and it is not up to those who are unfortunately discriminated against to stand up for themselves alone. Our goal is to help make domestic violence a concern for all, not only those affected.
While we will not be accepting any type of donations directly from customers or staff, you can make a donation to White Ribbon Australia via their website https://www.whiteribbon.org.au/ where a wide range of resources can also be found.
By wearing the ribbon and showing our support, we are taking it upon ourselves to have a voice for the:
- One in three women physically or sexually assaulted by someone they know
- One in five women stalked or harassed in the workplace
- One woman killed every week by a current or former partner
